A Modern Library edition offering a guide to the predictions of the French astrologer, physician and prophet Michel de Nostredame (1503-1566), best known as "Nostradamus." Many historic events are believed to have been predicted by Nostradamus, such as the rise of Napoleon and Hitler, and the use of atomic weapons. Edited, and with a preface & Life of Nostradamus, by Charles A. Ward. --- In Toledano spine 8 / blue cloth / gilt titling on dark red spine & cover blocks / red topstain / grey Kent endpapers / jacket style i, verso lists 388 titles in ML catalog. Likely published c.1960 (though 1940 date appears in book). ML #81.3. --- A well-preserved copy: unmarked, tightly-bound and sound.
