About This Item

La Mesa, CA: Libertarian Party. Offered is an original signed letter from John H. Taylor of the Executive Committee of the Libertarian Party, to Curtis W. Plumb regarding: "SUBJECT: Formation of a Los Angeles Organizational Committee for the Libertarian Party" along with an attachment with the heading "List of L.A. Organizational Committee Members." Both the letter and attachment are three-hole-punched (possibly punched later for filing purposes) and measure 8-1/2" by 11". The letter begins, "Curtis, Because of the extensive growth of the Libertarian Party in Cailf., [sic], we are announcing the formation of a Los Angeles Area Organizational Committee for the Libertarian Party. We would like you to be on this committee." Mr. Taylor then lists the responsibilities that the committee members would have, and closes the letter with "Enclosed is a list of other LP members that have been asked to join the L.A. committee. If you think someone else should be added, please let me know and I will write him or her. TANSTAAFL - [signature in blue pen] - John H. Taylor." The attached list contains the names, addresses and telephone numbers of Sterling S. Sharrar, Devon Showley, Curtis W. Plumb, William V. Snsel, William C. Turner, Richard Ryckoll, and Gary and Kathleen Pankey. Although the letter is not dated, it was written and mailed in 1971 considering the fact that both the Libertarian Party of California and the Libertarian Party of Los Angeles County were founded in 1971. It is difficult to determine whether the letter is hand-typed from a typewriter or from a dot-matrix. Regardless, the letter is hand-signed and contains a few corrections to the cover letter Mr. Taylor has made in pencil. An early document from the Libertarian Party. . Near Fine. No Binding. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. 1971.
