New York: horace Liveright, 1929. First Illustrated Edition First thus. Hardcover. Fine/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Majeska. This beautifully illustrated by Majeska and beautifully written by Huneker, fine. A minor bump to front corner tip, . Spine is a beautiful black and red, with gold lettering and design. Back board is loose at binding, else very fine. jacket is VG with tape repairs to verso and chips to spine top and bottom and folds. There is a 2"x1/2 loss at back of cover. Book was limited to 1250 copies. Very Good Jacket is unclipped ($15.00). This is the only fictional novel by one of America's great critics. ( early 20th century) H. L. Mencken wrote: " What chiefly marks this book, is it's prodigious gusto, the abounding joy with which it is slapped together, It is in a very real sense, the crowning work of a great writer." A fine collectors item with fabulous deco period illustrations
