SIGNED BY THE PUBLISHER. Subscriber edition, heavy stock paper. Blue cloth, gilt lettering/designs on binding, in-blind borders. Deckled fore-edges/bottom edges, gilt on top edges. Frontispieces, tissue overlays. Illustrations throughout (some colored), page illustrations with tissue overlays (one detached, laid in). Illustrated head-pieces at each chapter. Volume II includes index (critical for research). Vol. I, 314 pages; Vol. II, 689 pages. Condition of bindings: Minor wear, three corners bumped, shelf wear/light creases, spines/backstrips darken a tad. Internally: New endpapers. Overall: Both volumes Very Good Plus. Bindings tight, pages clean and very readable. Illustrations bright, vivid. This two-volume work is a major biography of Paul Revere, a hero of the Revolutionary War. He was a silversmith and engraver by trade. Once he got the signal the British were going to attack, he rode his horse and warned the townspeople of the impending attack. This historical work also provides clear insights into Revere's family life and his marriage, Revere's diary of the Penobscot expedition, the printing of Revolutionary money, adoption of the Constitution, Masonic history, production of gunpowder, associations organized, and other details of the period.
