Montreal/ Toronto: Dawson Brothers/ Rose Publishing Company, 1886. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo. 584.; 647pp. Green cloth wilt gilt lettering and details to spine and circular medallion to the front board to match the US edition. This is the first Canadian edition from the US sheets with the Rose publisher's slug to the spine base. Complete with the tissue guarded frontis portrait in each volume and all the maps and plates. Previous ownership stamp to the front endpapers and to the first blank in v.1, very clean throughout and the bindings tight and square, the cloth boards a little rubbed and scuffed, volume 2 front board scratched, and the spine ends and tips bumped and rubbed. A good clean and tight set.
