The front and last free end paper has a couple of light tape scorch marks, presumably from an old jacket protector. A publishers book mark is loosely placed at the front of the book. The jacket is sunned to the spine. It hasn't been clipped. The author considers what he calls inward happiness and refers to this as a modern handbook of contemplation against the hurly burly of life.
