About This Item
Of the 620 photos over 200 are either of the military in action (including with the Russian front), and several others of officers identified in German on the verso. Others show various German activities including some of women in auxiliary uniforms, another of a forced march showing what appear to be Russian noncombatants moving away from the front. There are also approximately 110 of German citizens in Holland or Paris. The image of the ten German officers are all identified but one. The one from the Russian front says: Russland, December 24, 1943 (which happens to be when the Russian offensive began at the Dnieper). The verso of the photo of Major (Finder?) notes he died on the 23rd. It is a fascinating collection with over 100 that have specific identifications including the one of the Panzer which indicates these were all taken by a German soldier presumably of rank though not identified.
