A study of the lied's evolution in Germany between 1750 to 1900, discussing problems in the art form as well as specific songs from Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, and Hugo Wolf. GOOD jacket and book. Minor darkening and edgewear to the jacket, with some wrinkling along the top edge. Slight sunning to the spine. Minor soiling and fading. Perhaps SIGNED and dedicated by the author on the ffep, with a previous owner's signature on as rear endpaper.
