In the publisher's original green cloth binding.Limited edition large paper edition. This work is comprised of a collection of essays by John Ruskin concerned with European architecture, with focus on cottages and chimneys as well as villas with the argument that buildings should be in harmony with their immediate environment and use local materials. John Ruskin was an influential Victorian figure in English culture. He was a prolific author on subjects as varied as geology, architecture, myth, ornithology, literature, education, botany and political economy. In all of his writing, he emphasised the connections between nature, art and society. Illustrated with fourteen photogravures and fourteen further illustrations, and a colour frontispiece, by the author. Collated, complete. With a pictorial bookplate of Stan Robinson, to the front paste down. In the publisher's original green cloth binding. Externally, smart, with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities and to the spine. The odd mark to the cloth. Light offsetting to endpapers. Bookplate and ink inscriptions to front endpaper, some of which are crossed out. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Very Good
