London: Henry G. Bohn, 1849. Eight volumes bound in contemporary full calf, backs ornately gilt, marbled end papers and edges. The small period bookplate of John R. Gardner, Ferry Hill, RI to paste downs. Very Good, 1" chip at head of spine of Vol. I, top corner front marbled end page Vol. I creased and separating. Moderate scattered toning throughout the set, mostly at end papers. Calf with moderate rubbing and light soiling. Features 30 engraved portraits each volume, for a total of 240. Additional postage will be required for priority and international mail- please inquire. . First Edition in Eight Volumes . Full Calf. Very Good/No Jacket, As Issued. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
