The conservative methods introduced by him were developed by Sir Robert Jones. Thomas is remembered eponymically by the Thomas Splint.' Second part of Thomas's important 'Contributions to Science and Medicine' series, issued in parts between 1883 and 1890 (although not in numerical order). All of the parts were issued in this paperback format and the fragile nature of the books has resulted in very few survivors, especially in the original wraps. WorldCat lists 7 copies of part II (4 in the UK, 2 in the US and 1 in Switzerland.) This copy comes from the private library of Dr. John Kirkup, orthopaedic surgeon and renowned surgical historian.
