About This Item
New York: J. W. Bouton, 1897. First. Fair. A late Victorian primer on book collecting, with numerous opinionated comments, "...the man who collects large paper books as large paper books is a vulgarian and a fool"
This copy is in the original green cloth with gilt titles on the spine and gilt titles and borders on the front cover. The binding is fair, with scattered water staining on both covers and the spine. The spine is sun darkened and has most of the gilt worn away. Both hinges are cracked but holding. The ink name, date and location are at the top of the title page, but no other marks. The text is age darkened, but otherwise clean.
