About This Item

[Milwaukee: Gunrunner Press, 1968]. First, Limited Edition. One of 300 copies. 12mo (22cm). Staple-bound pictorial wrappers; 8,[3]pp. Neat ownership signature to front wrapper, a few faint spots of thumb-soil to rear, else a tight, clean, and very well-preserved copy, Near Fine. Uncommon thus.

Posthumously-published Levy long poem, a somewhat unfocused polemic on the dynamics of poetic thought in an essentially soulless society. Levy committed suicide shortly before the poem was published. Offense Fund (Cleveland) reprinted it in 1974, but this Milwaukee printing, issued in an edition of only 300 copies, is elusive. LOWELL ("Preliminary Checklist") 38.
