About This Item
Tartu: Noor-Eesti Kirjastus, 1927 Octavo, wrappers, 159pp. Author Albert Kivikas (1898-1978) is one of Estonias most distinguished writers. He experimented with Futurism in the early years of the new republic, publishing a landmark dadaist work, Lendavad sead (Flying Pigs). He went on to develop as a neo-relist and his work culminated in the novel Nimor marmortahvlil in 1936. The present work comes from his most productive period, from 1921 to 1927 and translates as Red and White, a collection of short stories mostly dealing with war and revolution. Fine cover design by Peet Aren. Worldcat finds only one copy of this work in North American libraries.
