Boston: Little, Brown & Co., 1926. Stated first printing of the trade edition, September 1926. Includes personalized inscription to a John C. Hobbs signed by the author on the half-title. Brown cloth lettered and decorated in gilt, top edge gilt, other edges trimmed, color frontis, other plates in black and white, 317 pages, dustjacket. Very good condition with good hinges, firm text block, clean pages, no other names or markings. The mylar protected dustajcket is not priceclipped [5.00] and is also very good with some very modest chipping to the corners and spine ends. Important work focusing on book design by the former lead book designer for Plimpton Press. Orcutt's goal in his professional life was to produce high quality, well-designed books at an affordable price. This book focuses on some of the steps he took - in both education and experience - to reach this goal. It also includes some anecdotes about some of the authors and book aficianados he met along the way.. Inscribed by The Author. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
