About This Item

No Place Listed: Railroad Cancellations, No Date Listed. Unknown. Hardcover. Very Good. 11" x 8.75" x .5. This is a unique book as it is absolutely full of railroad cancellation stamps in facsimile, but no identification of the compiler, publisher, date published or any other origination information is given. Bound in black publisher's cloth, covers are plain with gilt lettering on the spine which reads "Railroad Cancellations". The dates on the depicted cancellation stamps themselves range from 1865 through 1877. Many railroads and towns are represented throughout, some of which are St. Joe. & W. & A. R. R. Co.; B. R. W. Line in Indianapolis; B & O. R. R. Co. of Baltimore; Eerie Railway; Scranton PA's Grassy Island Coal and Railroad Company; Grand Trunk Railway of Detroit, Michigan; GT Central Route in New York; M. & St. Paul R'w Iowa & Minnesota Division; The Schenectady and Susquehanna Railroad Company, and many, many more. A collection of at least 600 images. Text and images are printed on the recto page only. While the leaves are unpaginated, there are 19 pages depicting stamps with approximately 30 to 40 stamps on each page in black and white. While it is impossible to know exactly when this book was printed, based on the binding and vintage toning of the leaves, it appears to possibly be circa mid 20th century. Moderate external wear. Lightly toned pages. Completely unmarked. Binding is sound. A fascinating book, another of which we have not been able to currently find of its kind. Full refund if not satisfied.
