New York: G. P. Putnam, 1863. Paperback. Very Good. Pages 361-416, frontispiece portrait of Brig. Gen. J. W. Sill; 25 cm. Beige wrapper with illustration by Richardson. Wrapper title. Frontispiece portrait engraved by A. H. Ritchie. Back wrapper contains "notices of the Press." This number of Frank Moore's record of the American Civil War, issued during the conflict, consists of various reports on events in the beginning of 1863, including the battle of Arkansas Post (begun in the previous number), and the battle of Bear River, W.T. (now known as the Bear River Massacre, in which hundreds of Shoshone men, women, and children were killed). In Very Good Condition: wrapper is lightly soiled; closed 1-cm. tear from fore-edge of front wrapper; minor loss from fore-edge of back wrapper; pages and plate are clean and solid.
