Göttingen, Germany: Elie Luzac, fils, 1754. Hardcover. Very Good. Imprint: A Gottingue & Leide, chez Elie Luzac, Fils. vii, [1], 343, [1] p., 31 leaves of folded plates; 26 cm. Signatures: *4 A-2V4 (4to). Contemporary full polished calf with six spine compartments between raised bands. Reddish leather spine label in second compartment with gilt-tooled title: Recherch des Feuilles. Gilt-tooled decoration in remaining spine compartments. All page edges speckled red. Title page printed in red and black. Engraved title vignette signed: J. Wandelaar 1753. Jan Wandelaar also engraved most of the plates; a few are signed J.V. Schey (presumably Jacob van der Schley). Engraved headpieces and tailpieces. References: Pritzel, 981; Nissen, 201. In Very Good Condition: leather is slightly rubbed; front joint starting to separate at head of spine, but hinges are tight; old dampstain along lower edge and gutter of first few leaves, not touching printing; otherwise pages and plates are clean and bright.
