About This Item
London: H Hurst, 1848. 282 pages. Later half calf with the original cloth covers inserted, minor damp marking of the last page. Bookplate and ownership signature of Sir Morgan Crofton, historian of the Life Guards. There were several men called Harris in the Rifle Brigade. Sir John Fortescue is his introduction to the Soldiers Tales reprint attributed the book to John Harris, however Eileen Hathaway in a heavily edited more recent version asserts that Harris' christian name was Benjamin.
