The first 67 pages are a biography of Cheah Cheang Lim written in the 1930s with the cooperation of the subject. This is followed by an essay of similar length by Khoo Salma Nasution setting the subject within his historical and social context. Cheah was a noted Straits Chinese tin mine owner, rubber planter and philanthropist and politician in the first half of the 20th century. 225 pages with appendices, a bibliography and an index as well as a Foreword by Khoo Kay Kim.
