The Greek thinker Plato wrote virtually all his philosophical works in the form of dialogs, with Socrates being Plato's teacher. Because of the beauty of Plato's style, as well as the depth and range of his thought, the dialogs are considered masterpieces in literature. The book discusses and works out what must be sought in the state, since before justice can be found in the individual, it must be sought in the state. This is classic philosophical thought. Synopsis

The Republic is Plato's most famous work and one of the seminal texts of Western philosophy and politics. The characters in this Socratic dialogue - including Socrates himself - discuss whether the just or unjust man is happier. They are the philosopher-kings of imagined cities and they also discuss the nature of philosophy and the soul among other things.
