New York: Harper & Brothers, 1850. First American Edition. Half-Leather. Good/No Jacket. Phiz [Browne, Hablot Knight]. First American edition. Contemporary half leather binding, likely commissioned by the original owner - the name Susan Bross appears in gilt lettering at the base of the spine. Ink name ('Maud S. Bross.') on front endpaper, illustrations pages toned with minimal transfer, margins lightly foxed, corners a bit rubbed. 1850 Half-Leather. 288 pp. 8vo. Leather spine and corners over cloth boards, gilt titles and rules, all edges gilt. Two-column format. Engraved illustrations by Phiz (Hablot Knight Browne, known for his illustrations of the works of Charles Dickens). A novel by the Irish author who was a contemporary of Thackeray, Trollope, and other notable authors.
