The Fountain Press and The Hogarth Press: New York and London, 1929. First Edition. Very Good. First edition, large paper issue, copy number 399 of a limited 492 signed by Virginia Woolf in purple ink. Publisher's original red cloth covered boards with titles in gilt on spine. Very Good, cloth unevenly sunned, lightly worn. A lovely signed copy of Woolf's feminist essay, which proclaims "a woman must have money and a room of her own if she is to write fiction.

Synopsis

A Room of One's Own was first published in October 1929 in the UK and USA alike as a limited edition run of 492 numbered, signed copies. The first English edition and impression was released three days later with the Vanessa Bell dust jacket, published by Hogarth Press, the Woolfs' own publishing house. The first US edition was published by Harcourt Brace & Co.
