This amazing collection of hundreds of children's stories and poems is in Fine, unread condition, and a First Printing from 1983, with a required "number line" starting with a "1" to indicate printing and ending in an "83" to indicate year. The book is bound in illustrated white covers. (Click on photo.) The book's text is complemented by black and white drawings throughout by Jean Helmer, Dick Martin, and Margaret Briody, plus a section with color inserts. Part One deals with poetry suitable for children. Part two introduces children to folklore and fantasy from the U.S. and from around the world. Part Three centers around fiction and non-fiction, including biography. A fourth part is mainly to inform adults of various aspects of children's literature to help them share with their children at home or in class. The book includes 1002 pages and measures 8 1/8 by 10 1/4 inches, with extensive contents and index sections.
