London: Rogerson & Tuxford, 1862. First Edition. Hardcover. iii, [3], vii, 426pp + 11pp of publisher's advertisements. Full blue calf, gilt horse motif and decoration on the front panel, spine with five raised bands, with gold decorations, and animal and hunting motifs, gilt lettering, gilt inner dentelles. Top edge gilt, marbled endpapers. Bound and signed by Sangorski & Sutcliffe specifically for the upscale Chicago department store Marshall Field's. Portrait frontispiece, engraved title, and fourteen inserted plates, three of which are foldout. Edges a bit scuffed, lettering on the spine is faded. Internally clean. A very good copy in an appealing binding. ; 12mo.
