New York: Barnes & Noble, 1989. This fascinating account of secret societies throughout the world is a reprint of a book first published in 1961. It is in As New condition with an As New dust jacket. (Click on photo.) I've placed the dust jacket into a Brodart protective sleeve. Each of the 24 chapters is devoted to a particular secret society (with two chapters on the rise and fall of the Knights Templar). Also included are chapters on the Rites of Mithra, the Gnostics, The Castrators of Russia, the Garduna Warriors of Spain, the high priesthood of Thebes, Witches, the Thug stranglers of India, and many more. The book is bound in black boards with a red spine and white spine lettering. It includes black-and-white vignette drawings. The book measures 5 13/16 by 8 1/2 inches and includes 256 pages, with Index. . Hard Cover. As New/As New. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
