About This Item
London: Collins, 1980-82. A set of three first edition, first printings published by Collins between 1980-82. Each title has been signed (without dedication) by Bernard Cornwell and the dust wrapper artist, Tony Kerins. Each book is near fine (or better) in like unclipped wrappers (some spotting to the top edge of Eagle and price strike-through to the DJ of Gold). The books additionally include a piece of original artwork by Tony Kerins to the half title page. Each piece of artwork replicates a theme from the story and is initialled by Kerins (as TK). All books are signed also by Bernard Cornwell. Tony Kerins left the Royal College of Art in 1978 where he was tutored by Quentin Blake. A the age of 18, Tony was commissioned by Harper Collins (then Collins) to create the dust wrapper artwork to Bernard Cornwell's 'Sharpe's Eagle' - two more followed - Kerins' depiction of Sharpe was the first to be seen by readers. An exceptionally rare triple of signed and illustrated books.
