About This Item

London: Collins, 1999. Signed by Author. (London: Harper Collins 1999). SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR. A Softback (not issued with a D/W). A Special Limited Edition published for W H Smith. Only 1,000 copies of this Limited Edition were produced which was given away by W H Smith as a promotional initiative with each copy of Sharpe's Fortress. This resulted in numerous problems including other bookseller's complaints that they did not have free copies. This is the original limited edition and NOT the one published in 2003 by the Sharpe Appreciation Society. A fine copy. One of the scarcest items in the Sharpe canon. ISBN: 0-00-651360-3. SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR ON THE TITLE PAGE. Photographs/scans available upon request.

Synopsis

"Sharpe's Skirmish" is a historical short story by Bernard Cornwell in his series about the adventures of Richard Sharpe. "Sharpe's Skirmish" was first written in 1998 and in a great hurry. A leading British bookseller devised the idea of giving away a Sharpe short story with every copy of Sharpe's Fortress, possibly why "Sharpe’s Skirmish" often refers to events that happened in the latter book.
