First Edition, SIGNED by the author ( association copy - inscribed to her friend) - in clean unclipped original dust jacket. Clean blue cloth boards with gold lettering on spine. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound - no cracking. Inscribed and signed on front free endpaper by the author: "To Armenie Lawson with greetings and best wishes from her old friend - Grace Crile." Two articles about Grace Crile and her husband, their book and their African adventures are laid in, and have caused some brown shadowing to front free endpapers. Otherwise there are no marks, pages are clean. Illustrated with wonderful photographs. 240 pages. Clean bright dust jacket is unchipped, not price clipped, slight wear to spine ends, slight rubbing to spine. Enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover. When Mrs. Crile accompanied her husband, Dr. George Crile, famous American surgeon, on his scientific expedition to Africa, she kept a day by day record of the journey to and from Africa by airplane and the days spent in the jungle. Mrs. Crile was a keen and delightful observer and from the moment their airplane rises at Croydon, the reader is under her magic spell..
