Light foxing and tanning to pages, plates, pastedowns and free endpapers. More prominent to text block edges. Pen inscription to front free endpaper. Annotations, underlining and marginalia in pencil throughout; text remains unaffected. Binding is slightly loose but pages remain attached. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear. Spine has light tanning with soft crushing to ends. Lettering remains bright and clear. Book has a slight forward lean. Clipped dust jacket with minor rubbing, chipping and tearing to edges. Moderate tanning and scuffing overall.

The novelist's involvement with aircraft, especially his life as an aircraft engineer working for Airspeed in Britain in the 1930s. A Good+ copy, clean and bright, apart from foxing spots to closed edges; paper scuff and tear to back endpaper. Photos available.

The dust jacket is from a SECOND IMPRESSION issue, and has been trimmed slightly to top edge so is a few mm shorter than the boards, and the fore edge of the front fold in flap has been trimmed a little, losing the publisher's price.
