About This Item
(Johannesburg: South African Jewish Board of Deputies, 1950). 8vo; original blue cloth, lettered in gilt on spine; no dustwrapper; pp. xix + (i) + 189, incl. index; plates. Extremities very slightly rubbed; trace of foxing to edges, occasional fox spots elsewhere; lower hinge a little tender; dustwrapper's upper panel and flap mounted to front endpaper. Good condition. "What distinguishes the book from other war records is that the major portion of it was written by the Jewish Springboks themselves - extensive use having been made in its compilation of their personal letters and diaries. This has given the narrative a quality of freshness and spontaneity not often found in books of a similar kind." .
