About This Item
London: Faber & Faber, 1996. 1st Edition. Soft cover. Near Fine. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Soft cover. 70 pp. A few light spots of rubbing, else in fine condition. This is Heaney's first book of poems after winning the 1995 Nobel Prize for Literature. It comes five years after his most recent collection, Seeing Things, which was described by reviewers as a 'triumph' and a 'masterpiece,' and shows both the poet's alert response to new political realities and his continuing concern with matters of family history and spiritual well-being.
Synopsis
An irresistibly coherent book which celebrates the rising and the raising of the human spirit.' Michael Hofmann, The Times'If any poetry written today can have this 'redemptive effect' - as Heaney in his critical writing has begun to claim it can - then this is it.' Mick Imlah, Independent on Sunday
