About This Item
London: Routledge & Kegan Paul, 1982. First Edition. Card wraps. Good +. 8vo (22.5cm). A definitive photographic record of feminist assaults against the prevailing iconography of male superiority, featuring numerous classic images taken by Posener of graffitied advertising hoardings and the like. Also featuring slogans in support of lesbian mothers, anarchism, and squatters rights, from a time when seditionary protest turned graffiti into a major tool to communicate discontent and opposition to official policies and sentiment. Posener's first published work in book form, after her lesbian play 'Any Woman Can,' performed in 1976. Inscribed to half title by Posener to Sharon, "Where would we be / without you at the controls…. ?? / thankx / Jill. P" pp. 96, w/ numerous b&w photographic images. Wear to the cover edges and tips, some crease marks to covers, and a small nick or tear to one edge of spine. Internally, a clean, firm copy, binding still firm. Less common, especially so inscribed to someone obviously close to Posener.
