Includes section about the author at the back. [14] 372 pp. Illustrated dust jacket in full color depicts a landscape of the mountains and a photograph of the author and his dog on the back. Inscription on the front flyleaf reads: "To Lucile & Quealy Walker - | Who have a love | and see affinity for | these mountains too. | With best wishes - | John Parris | Sylva N.C. | Nov. 4, 1972". <br><br>FROM THE DUST JACKET: "Here is a rich, new collection of mountain folk tales and mountain folkways, traditions and legends mined from the hills of Western North Carolina by the mountains' special chronicler. This is John Parris, mountainborn himself, writing with skill and sympathy and the ease of familiarity about a people of great dignity and simplicity of character, and a land of almost magical and intoxicating beauty. [...]"<br><br>CONDITION: External cover shows mild wear with light foxing along textblock edges. Unmarked except for the author's inscription. Dust jacket is moderately worn with some chipping and fading. Price clipped. A crease along the head of dust jacket ends at an 1/2 inch closed tear at the corner with a crease. Hinges are strong and binding is sound. A nice, solid copy. Full refund if not satisfied.
