Racine, Wisconsin: Whitman Publishing Company, 1930. First Edition First Printing . Hardcover. Fair. Collection of 24 relatively unknown children's stories with lots of fairytale elements, beautifully illustrated throughout the 248 pages of text (along with the endpapers & front pastedown) by the author, a British illustrator best known for her nostalgic depictions of children. No Date in book, but research locates it c. 1930s. Hardcover 8vo has front paper paste down over yellow cloth-covered boards, lettered in black to spine. Condition downgraded to Fair due to exterior roughness: spine cloth is splitting, exposing underlying webbing. Light soil & heavy edgewear to both front & rear board, heavily bumped corners. BUT, the interior stories & illustrations are lovely & unmarked, borders on all the plates are white with mild tanning. All pages heavily tanned, but supple. Text block secure, but both hinges cracked. NO DJ. Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have!
