[vi]+xx+170(last blank), coloured frontispiece with tissue guard, plus 2 black & white plates, title page vignette printed in brown, 12 full page black & white illustrations by Adrian Feint; narrow cr. 4to; qr. burgundy art. leather, spine lettered in gilt, pinkish/brown papered boards, upper board decorated in blind, edge of boards a trifle rubbed, the fore-corners faintly bruised, spine slight faded; bookplate of David Levine, Sydney, on upper pastedown, outer leaves and edges lightly foxed, lower hinge starting; John Fairfax & Sons Pty. Ltd., Sydney, 1941. First edition. *Inscribed by the author's mother [the wife of Edward Wilfred Fairfax, who was a grandson of John Fairfax] to Australian artist Sir William [Will] Ashton, dated Sept. 4th 1960, on the upper free endpaper.
