"Revised, Enlarged, Newly illustrated, and Written up to February, 1873, by the Author." Publisher's brown cloth with gilt embossed to spine, now quite faded. Patterns stamped to front cover. Wear to spine ends. Binding still square and tight, though front hinge starting to go. Foxing throughout. Previous owner's name in pencil to front end paper, with date June 22, 1974. Otherwise, pages unmarked human hand. Damp stain to final 20 pages. Curiously numbered has the line "(836 pages, including engravings.)" appearing at the bottom of page 779, followed immediately by page 837. All text appears to be present. Three appendices and also a two-page addendum on the Climate of Colorado by W.H. Buchtel, M.D.
