A comprehensive & saucy overview of all types of crime that infected New York City in the early decades of the 20th century, noting changing fashions in crime as well as in crime reporting & punishments. The author served as such a reporter for the New York Sun. A FIRST EDITION, first printing, from 1938, in 366 pages with a Frontispiece + 20 duotone photos throughout text. Hardcover 8vo has red cloth-covered boards lettered in black to spine. Though completely clean & unmarked inside, condition is downgraded to VG due to some faded black stains to rear board. Else, pages white & unmarked, binding strong & straight, just a tad of rubbing to extremities & slight corner bumping. NO DJ.
