John Grisham, one of America's most prolific of bestselling authors, bring us yet another taught, and tightly wound mystery suspense thiller of the first magnitude. The summons, comes from Ray Arlee's father, Judge Arlee, to return home to the family estate in a small southern town. The occasion is his impending death, and he wants to discuss family matters with Ray, a law professor, and Ray's brother, Forrest, the all-time winner for family black sheep of family black sheep. But, Judge Arlee dies before the meeting takes place, not only leaving their unfinished meeting behind, but a shocking secret only he and Ray knew ... and perhaps one other.
