Volume 3 out of 4 volumes published in England between 1875-1877. Comte was a French philosopher and a founder of the discipline of sociology and of the doctrine of positivism. He was a major influence on such social thinkers as Karl Marx, John Stuart Mill, George Eliot, Harriet Martineau and Herbert Spencer.
