About This Item
Thirty-eight hand-colored, partly erotic and pornographic drawings by a Hungarian prisoner of war in the Soviet Union.
A unique collection of cartoons of a Hungarian POW of the Second World War. Thirty-seven skillful ink drawings with added pencil and crayon colors, and one water-color painting. Twenty-two cartoons in a comic style show the daily life of the prisoners of war and forced laborers, foremost the hunger and the dreams about home and family. The second part of the booklet, sixteen drawings, are consisting of erotic and pornographic images, ranging from ordinary sexual scenes to some unusual fantasies of orgies and zoophilia.
Because Hungary fought with the Axis Powers during WWII, and the subsequent Soviet occupation of the country, some 600,000 Hungarians were held in the Soviet Union as prisoners of war and forced laborers. Their fate was tabooed and their stories silenced during the communist times, thus any kind of related memorabilia is extremely scarce.
