About This Item
London: Frederick Warne and Co., 1946. First edition. Cloth. Very Good Indeed/Very Good. 8.5" by 6". Not Stated. A smart first edition of this delightful biography of Beatrix Potter, with illustrations. First edition. Illustrated with frontispiece, four colour plates, and sixteen black-and-white plates. Collated complete. A detailed biography of English writer, illustrator, conservationist, and natural scientist, Helen Beatrix Potter. Made famous by her children's books featuring delightful characters like Peter Rabbit, her personal life was a mystery to the general public, even in her old age. Written by Margaret Lane, a British journalist, biographer, and novelist who wrote two biographies of Beatrix Potter, this being the earlier of the two. In the original green cloth binding. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear and rubbing to the extremities. Original unclipped dust wrapper is also smart with light shelf wear and minor chipping to the extremities. Sunning to the spine and board edges, with the odd mark to the board. A colour pencil mark to the front panel. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot. Light age toning to the endpapers. Very Good Indeed
