New York. Excelsior Publishing Company. N.d. c.[1880/90's]. 1st Edition. Hardcover. 12mo, vi,320p., with 8 illustrations, original black decorated grey green cloth, gilt titles on front & spine, spine toned, edges & spine extremities rubbed & occasionally worn, leaves heavily toned (produced on puply acid paper), a few page slightly jumped but holding, a good copy. (Hmds). ~ Dart p132. First edition under this title. ~ Boy buglers in a British infantry regiment in the Napoleonic Wars. A scarce American pirated edition with the original eight illustrations by John Proctor but without the maps. Although undated, it is assumed the date of publication would be around the time of the original British publication of 1880.
