Octavo (19.5cm.); publisher's green decorative gilt-stamped cloth; 422pp. Some wear at extremities with brief exposure at corners, small white soil spot to upper cover, early 20th-century ex libris to front pastedown, contemporary St. Louis bookseller's ticket to rear pastedown, else Very Good, internally sound. Novel set in an "eastern city" (presumably the author's native Philadelphia), though at the time of publication Hosmer was living in San Francsico, serving as the principal of a public school. WRIGHT II 1277.
