Very Good in a Very Good jacket, unclipped ($7.95), chipped at the head and foot of the spine, tears at the folds. Black buckram, bumped at the head and foot of the spine, mottled on the boards. Square, faded top stain, foxed, underlining and marginalia throughout. Steiner's essay in poetic and philosophical criticism in which Steiner "asks how literary genres are transformed and in what way the novel is related to its two major predecessors, the epic poem and the tragic drama.
