About This Item

London: Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme & Brown, 1821. Book. Illus. by Frontispiece of Author, Folding Map, 27 Vignettes and 7 Full-page Plates. Very Good. Hardcover. 2nd Edition. 8 Vo. Buckingham was a keen observer of Palestine, including the raw and untraveled portion East of the Jordan River, now the nation of Jordan. Original red cloth on both volumes, rebacked and the original spines with labels laid down, nicely executed so both volumes are clean and tight. First edition was published in 1821 by this same publisher; this edition followed the next year. It has the same illustrations and folding map as the first edition. Roehricht 1650. Pages xxxviii, (2), 402 and iv, 474, 2 pages publisher ads. The so-called vignettes are full page woodcuts, all in nice condition..
