Book measures 175mm x 120mm approximately.

Beautifully bound by Root & Son in full flame chestnut. Spine with five raised gilt-ruled bands with elaborate classical gilt motif to compartments and maroon title and date labels. Triple gilt-ruled fillet borders with cornices to both boards, plus decorative gilt inner dentelle work. Marbled end-papers to front and rear. All page edges in gilt.

A series of full-page steel engravings throughout by the author.

CONDITION

The front board is cracked over the bottom half and weak overall but still attached. Otherwise the binding is tight and firm and is in fantastic condition. There is just an occasional slight mark or bump to board corners. Internally the pages are wonderfully bright and crisp with just one or two a very occasional spots and some slight browning. Small neat previous owner bookplate to front paste-down.

Nearly 200 years old and in superb condition, but such a pity about the weak front hinge.

Please refer to the photo images for a clear indication of both condition and content.
