About This Item
New York: Harper & Brothers, 1843. First edition. Wraps. Very Good +. 6 x 8 3/4 inches. 46 pages. A little light foxing. Otherwise pages bright and clean and free from marking, soiling and staining. Bound in original cream colored wraps. Stamp and label of Library of the Bishop of Vermont to front cover. A few spots on covers. A very good copy of this scarce pamphlet opposing the ordination of Arthur Carey because of his leanings toward the Roman Church (he later converted as did one of those who was examining him). A fascinating insight into the pre-Civil War liturgical and high church/low church dispute.
