Book plate of noted Arctic explorer and geologist William Herbert Hobbs (1864 - 1953), who led 4 expeditions to Greenland. He studied glacial anticyclones in the upper air with pilot balloons and how the land surrounding a continental glacier is affected during its liquidation.

8vo, 385pp, with 16 b&w plates, 15 in text maps. Grey illustrated cloth covers with black title lettering and pictorial illustration of explorer and sled dog on the front cover.
