Inspirational children's story of Louis, a trumpeter swan who was born lacking a voice & how he blossomed with the help of a little boy who takes him to school & a father who steals a trumpet so that his son can woo the beautiful cygnet swan, Serena. Illustrated throughout with line drawings by Edward Frascino. Orig. published in 1970, this is a Book Club Edition from the same period (please see our listing #020075 for a true First Edition). Hardcover book has bright golden cloth-covered boards with black lettering to front & spine. Condition is Near Fine: virtually flawless save for a slight slant & pushed head & heel of spine, slightly bumped corners. Otherwise, completely clean, binding straight & strong, pages creamy white & unmarked. The unclipped DJ is downgraded to Good due to minor edgewear all around, rubbing to extremities, many shallow creases. Beautifully protected in new mylar cover Free!
